ENGINEERING firm Ricardo has won planning permission to extend its engine assembly facility on the banks of the Adur in a move that will bring more jobs to the area.
The bid to build a two storey extension to relieve overcrowding was approved by Adur Council at a planning meeting on June 30.
Speaking at the meeting, councillor Peter Metcalfe said: “Ricardo is a very innovative, award-winning company and I don’t see this extension impacting on anyone in Shoreham.
“It certainly has my support and I am very interested to know this will support extra jobs which are very welcome in the area.”
Councillor Mike Mendoza said the people of Adur were very lucky to have a company like Ricardo in their district.
Councillor Ben Stride said it was a shame such a large building did not have some solar panels on the roof.
“It’s a massive building in a very sunny area ,” he said.
