Resident artist Lucy Watt said the turnout for the opening soirée on Friday, May 23, was ‘incredible’.

“Around 150 people came from local businesses, the Steyning Festival committee, friends and the Steyning Arts group,” she added.

“There was champagne, music and canapés and to celebrate the opening, donations were made to St Barnabas House Hospice on the evening.”

The barn, in Hyde Street, is now open to the public as part of the 2014 Steyning Arts Trail, which has been running over three weekends, Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 4pm, ending on June 8.

Teas, coffees and home-baked goods are available, with all donations going to the hospice.
