Illegal pavement parking crackdown

Cars have been blocking the pavement in recent weeks and forcing pedestrians into the road.

Adur Council chairman Mike Mendoza said the behaviour was totally unacceptable and un-neighbourly.

After receiving several complaints from residents, Cllr Mendoza promised he would take the matter up with parking contractor NSL, which he has done.

“I had an excellent response from our parking office, and have been promised twice in the past 24 hours that this problem will receive high priority,” he said.

Cars parked on the pavement make it difficult for pedestrians to pass, especially those with push-chairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Cllr Medoza said it was a very dangerous corner, and the actions of some motorists was totally inconsiderate and illegal.

A spokesman said NSL had been made aware of the problems identified near to Ropetackle, and said officers regularly monitored the area, carrying out enforcement of any illegally-parked vehicles.
