Friends of Shoreham Fort organise the evening for people’s personal reflection on those loved and lost, either through war or their own war with illness.

Shoreham band 168 No Sleep performed, before the Rev Ann Waizeneker addressed the crowd and invited people to light a candle in reflection.

Friends of Shoreham Fort secretary Sharon Penfold said: “Thank you from the heart to everyone who made this evening possible.

“Once again it was a beautiful evening and the weather couldn’t have been kinder. Thank you also to all of you who joined us to light a candle.”

A total of 303 tea lights were lit, followed by two minutes’ silence and the lighting of the Jubilee Beacon.

The Friends of Shoreham Fort also attended the morning service at St Mary de Haura Church and lay two wreaths at the War Memorial.
