DELIGHTFUL daffodils are the desire of Beeding and Bramber Horticultural Society.

Hopes are high the heavy snow that forced the cancellation of last year’s spring show will not be repeated.

The bad weather meant there simply were not enough flowers available to exhibit but this year, it is hoped beautiful blooms will once again adorn the tables for the annual show.

Pat Nightingale said: “Last year, the show had to be cancelled due to the severe weather in March, but this year we are hoping for a fine display of daffodils and other spring flowers.”

The 2014 spring show will be held on Saturday, March 15, in the Village Hall, High Street, Upper Beeding.

Pat said: “Those who wish to place an entry need to do so before 9.30am, when the hall will be closed for judging to take place.”

Alongside the usual adult classes, there are categories for children aged under 16, who can either present a spring flower arrangement or a birthday card they have made.

Doors open to the public from 10.30am to 1pm to view the exhibits, admission 60p.

Refreshments, cakes, plants and a raffle will all be available.

The society welcomes members from Upper Beeding, Bramber and Small Dole, as well as nearby towns and villages.

Every year, the society holds two shows, one in spring and one in late summer.
