Health centre move latest

A STEYNING car park was closed for the entire weekend while temporary buildings were delivered.

More than 20 cabins for the temporary health centre arrived at Fletcher's Croft after receiving a police escort into the town, at around 7.30am on Saturday.

They will be used for about 18 months to house all the medical and nursing services provided by the health centre, when the facility is temporarily moved from the current Tanyard Lane site later this year.

Project co-ordinator Jennie Musgrove, from West Sussex Primary Care Trust, said the arrival of the buildings was the first major milestone.

She said: "This temporary move is critical to the health centre redevelopment project and I am delighted that, at last, we are making real progress. It will take several weeks before the buildings are ready as there is a lot of work to do, and I apologise for the inconvenience of having to close the car park."
