MP Tim Loughton rolled up his sleeves on Friday and joined Adur District Council's binmen on the streets of Southwick.
The East Worthing and Shoreham MP was joined by Adur Council's director of services, Peter Latham, as he worked with the recycling team around Southwick Green.
Mr Latham said: "Well, this isn't like sitting behind my desk. The refuse and recycling crews work really hard to help residents dispose of and recycle their refuse.
"Together, we can all help to make sure Adur doesn't go to waste. Now, where's my cup of tea?"
