Groups scoop £10,000 of council funding

COMMUNITY groups scooped almost £10,000 in Community Initiative Funding from the county council at a meeting of the Adur County Local Committee on Thursday.

The Bugles and Drums of the Steadfast Association (BADOTSA) was awarded £2,500 to send ‘Old Boys’ to France for the First World War commemorations.

Adur and Worthing Play Out Scheme won £2,433.

Shoreham Wordfest was awarded £3,500, and Fishersgate Community Centre was awarded £1,500 towards a marquee for the launch of the Adur Festival earlier this month.

Adur CLC chairman Janet Mockridge said it was a good job they had been awarded the money, as it had poured with rain on the day.

A bid from the Shoreham Society for £1,000 towards its railway subway campaign was rejected. It was deemed a matter for British Rail to fund.
