VOLUNTARY and community organisations offering prevention and wellbeing activities in Adur can apply for funding of up to £5,000.

West Sussex County Council is offering financial support under the annual prevention and wellbeing grants programme.

Adur Voluntary Action, which is encouraging groups to apply, said: “The grants are prioritised towards funding start-up costs of adult-orientated services and activities, while at a local level contributing to prevention and wellbeing objectives.

“They will be especially pleased to hear from organisations who want to provide innovative, community-based activities, which enable social opportunities to make friends and see people. “

The council will also consider applications from more established projects, where there is clear evidence of the positive impact on people who are being supported.

Last year, awards ranged between £250 and £5,000 for tea and chat groups, luncheon clubs, choirs, fitness and learning.

A total of £190,000 is being offered across the county. For more information, e-mail or call 0330 22 28677. The closing date is Friday, April 24.
