AROUND £7,000 was raised for victims of the Shoreham Air Show tragedy with a charity race day at the Goodwood motor circuit.
Worthing United sponsor Peter Saywell, of Saywell International, organised the event in aid of players Matt Grimstone and Jacob Schilt who lost their lives on August 22.
“It was a brilliant day and a lot of people turned up,” said Worthing United manager Nigel Geary.
“A lot of fast cars were out on the track. Drivers paid £250 to be there and all of the money was donated to the memorial fund for Matt and Jacob.
“We raised about £7,000 in total for the memorial and it was a really good day.”
