SOUTHWICK garden designer Arbworx has won a top prize at the annual Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) Awards.

The company, which is run by husband and wife team Jon and Sophia Lee, won the hard landscaping award, as well as being highly commended in two other categories.

Their project, called A Heavenly Transformation, included wooden decking and a weeping willow, acting as a focal point for the garden.

Judges said: “This is an ace transformation. A lot has been achieved in such a narrow space. The use of nice clean lines, especially in the hard finishing, has created an illusion that the garden is in fact wider.

“Overall, the resulting garden is much more usable, which is largely in part due to the hard landscaping.”

Arbworx, based in The Gardens, was highly commended for overall design and build, and for project value under £25,000.

Richard Barnard, chairman of the judges, said it was an outstanding day for the industry, giving companies national recognition for their achievements and was testament to the high calibre landscaping offered by APL members.

“This year has produced inspiring and technically challenging award entries.”

Mr and Mrs Lee said they were delighted their project had been nominated in three categories and they had been up against ‘some pretty stiff competition’.
