Gang of robbers fought off in Shoreham

A gang of three robbers threw liquid at a man and demanded money last night, but he managed to fight of the group outside his house.

The attempted robbery happened in Hammy Way on Thursday, December 27, at 5.24pm, just after the man was arriving home from work

He had pulled up in his van and taken his till into the house when his dog started barking. He went back outside to see what was going on and the group confronted him, demanding money.

One of the robbers threw liquid towards the victim’s face, but he managed to fight back and all three ran off empty-handed.

A police spokesperson said: “It would appear that this was an attempted robbery by three men who had seen the victim take the till from his van into the house. He defended himself, despite having something thrown towards his face, which fortunately did not cause any harm or injuries.

“We are looking for three men, one of whom spoke with an Asian accent and was about 5ft10in tall, of slim build, wearing a dark grey hooded top with the hood up and a grey scarf covering his face. The other two were both about 6ft tall, of slim build, and wore dark clothing with their faces covered.”
