People came from far and wide to watch the spectacle, which was preceded by the Tide of Light lantern parade, hosted by the Worthing Lions and the Worthing Town Centre Initiative.

The fireworks, funded by the Lions, began at about 8pm, and there were funfair attractions, a street market, music and more.

Keen amateur photographer Katie, of Marine Parade, Worthing, said: “I enjoyed trying to get these shots as it’s kind of a guessing game as to when to click the shot to catch the fireworks exploding their array of colours.

“The atmosphere on the promenade was really lovely, and I must say, I haven’t seen the front so busy in a long time. I’m glad the weather was in our favour and what a wonderful turnout with so many people and some of the costumes I saw tonight were really fun.

“It was a great evening and I think Worthing should be proud of the entertainment provided for everyone.”
