GALLERY: Old Shoreham Buccaneers launch fourth season

The season started on May 17 at the Brighton Morris Weekend of Dance and continued the following weekend on the Adur Festival launch day, with dancing outside Manor Cottage Heritage Centre in Southwick.

Bill Farmer, who plays music for the dancers, said: “We support local events whenever possible, like the Manor Cottage open day and the Adur Festival.

“We are a small side and often perform with other local morris sides. We don’t take our dancing too seriously, we’re there to enjoy ourselves as well as providing street entertainment for others.

“We are always looking for more members. If you are interested in trying out morris dancing, come and see us at one of our stands or contact us via our website. It’s more fun and cheaper than the gym.”

The Old Shoreham Buccaneers will be at the Piston Broke, High Street, Shoreham, and around the town with Brighton Morris Men tomorrow night from 7.30pm; the Stanley Arms Wolseley Road, Portslade, with Chanctonbury Ring Morris Men on Wednesday, July 9, from 8pm; St Nicolas’ Fête and Lammas Fair, Shoreham, on Saturday, July 12, from 2pm; West Blatchington Windmill Fete, Hove, on Sunday, July 20, from 2pm; The Signalman, Ditchling Rise Brighton, with Cuckoo’s Nest on Friday, August 1, from 8pm; and the Buckingham Arms, Shoreham, and around the town with Ragged Phoenix on Thursday, September 11, from 8pm.
