The Children’s Activity Day, designed for those of primary school age, proved successful, with more than 40 youngsters taking part on Thursday, February 20.

Education volunteer Joan Denwood said: “The children were able to try on historical costumes and play with old-fashioned toys and games.

She said there were nearly as many parents as children, so the atmosphere was fun, lively and buzzing, thanks to the efforts of the volunteer helpers.
