This year, the church has had in excess of 40 large jigsaws donated, which it hopes to sell at the coffee morning. There will also be home-made cakes, jewelry, and Fairtrade goods for sale.

The coffee morning runs from 10am to noon. Christian Aid is supported by the main churches in Shoreham. Money raised goes to help in poor countries, funding long-term development and responding to emergencies. Although a Christian charity, Christian Aid helps people of all faiths and none.

No money is given to overseas governments. Instead aid is distributed through local organisations that work directly with the poor.

The Shoreham Methodist Church Christian Aid organiser Margaret Bedwell said: “As Christians, we are called to love and care for one another in compassion and humility.

“Christian Aid stands alongside all those who struggle against poverty, powerlessness and injustice. For example they are currently working with refugees in Greece, providing essential support and urgently needed practical supplies.”
