Funding for rural areas explained

WORKSHOPS are being held to explain funding options for rural businesses and communities.

LEADER funding is regarded as vital to the rural economy and people in the Steyning area are among those encouraged to find out more.

Part of the Rural Development Programme for England, LEADER aims to improve the competitiveness of farming and forestry, support a diverse and successful rural economy, and help develop vibrant and thriving rural communities.

West Sussex County Council leader Louise Goldsmith said: “LEADER funding is incredibly important for West Sussex in helping to support our rural economy.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our farming, forestry and small rural businesses and communities to find out how the LEADER programme could help them grow and for them to play a key part in helping to shape our bid to Defra.”

A workshop focusing on Horsham, Mid Sussex and Lewes districts will be held on July 8, from midday to 4pm, at the South of England Showground in Ardingly.
