Folk sing-along supporting ancient church

JOIN in some rousing choruses and brighten up winter at Sing Along in Shoreham.

Folk group Slipjig – Mike Taylor, Simon Buck, Luke Carter and Tim Carter – will lead the entertainment at St Nicolas’ Church, in St Nicolas’ Lane, off Upper Shoreham Road, on Thursday, February 13, at 7.30pm.

Church treasurer John Simpson said: “Slipjig have been a favourite on the Shoreham folk scene for about 12 years now, and their regular spot at the Red Lion Inn on the third Tuesday of each month is always very popular.

“They are looking forward to playing in the church, where the acoustics are very good and there is room to accommodate a larger audience.

“There’s nothing like a good singsong to cheer up the cold damp months of winter.”

The programme will include a few instrumentals to set the mood, but the majority will be popular folk songs to join in.

Mike Taylor said: “Don’t worry if you don’t know the words or the tunes. Song sheets will be provided and Tim and I will teach you the choruses.”
