Fifteen charged for drink driving this weekend

Sussex Police charged 15 people for drink-related driving offences over the weekend.

Operation Dragonfly is being run in a bid to tackle drink and drug-related driving across the county this month.

Five of these people live within the Herald distribution area.

James Bailey, 47, was arrested at 11.40pm on Thursday (June 5) after he was found in a car in Kithurst Close, Worthing.

Bailey, of Kithurst Close, Worthing, was charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and was released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on September 16.

Martin Coop, 54, was arrested at 5.35pm on Friday after officers on patrol stopped his vehicle in Wavertree Road, Worthing.

Coop, of Whitebeam Road, Worthing, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on September 16.

Harley Line, 23, was arrested at 7.15pm on Saturday (June 7) after she was found in her car parked on the A259 in Seaford.

Line, of Bruce Avenue, Worthing, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on July 24.

Thomas Denman, 20, was arrested at 10.10am on Sunday after his car was stopped at a speed check in Lewes Road, Cross in Hand.

Denman, of Hurston Lane, Storrington, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on July 24.

Michael Byrne, 39, was arrested at 4.45am on Sunday after he was stopped driving a flat bed lorry in The Street, Shoreham.

Byrne, of Upper Shoreham Road, Shoreham, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on September 16.
