Eileen dreamed of being 100 '“ and is now 104

A woman who always dreamed of being 100 has now gone on to celebrate her 104th birthday.

Eileen Watkins was given a special rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ by a violinist to mark the occasion today.

She then had a party with other residents and staff at Elmcroft Care Home, in St Giles Close, Shoreham.

Eileen was born on October 18, 1912. She lived most of her life in Wales, where she worked as a barmaid in a hotel.

She has lead a happy life and enjoyed her family, having married and had a daughter and two sons.

Her hobbies included gardening and her favourite television programme is Last of the Summer Wine.

Staff at Elmcroft describe Eileen as ‘great’, adding she is lots of fun and can make people laugh easily. Although she is not always talkative, at times it is hard to stop her chatting.
