Eclectic mix from around the world

POPULAR songs from around the world will be presented in Shoreham by Sussex Voiceworks, a choir with approximately 100 members.

The choir performs Summer Classics in its debut appearance at St Mary de Haura Church, East Street, Shoreham, on Saturday, June 21, at 7.30pm.

The eclectic programme includes music from Africa, America and Europe, a Les Misérables medley, the theme tune from The Vicar of Dibley and popular works by Elgar, Britten, Gershwin, Franck, Chilcott and a host of other composers.

Joining the choir will be guest soprano soloist, Kathryn Sargent, who has appeared numerous times as soloist in oratorio and concert works including Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem in Budapest with the Hungarian Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra.

Conductor Peter Farrant began his professional career in 1993, promoting new and unusual works alongside mainstream repertoire, both in the UK and overseas.
