STAFF at Dunelm Mill in Shoreham were left without pay after an ‘administrative error’.

Hourly-paid workers at the Eastern Avenue store were among those who failed to receive their wages on Friday.

It was feared thousands across the company, which employs 7,000 people in its chain of 135 stores, could have faced bank charges because bills were due to go out from their accounts by direct debit or standing order.

Account manager Naomi Lane confirmed staff at the Shoreham store could have been affected but they will have been paid today, along with all Dunelm staff affected.

A statement issued by Dunelm Mill said: “We can confirm that due to an administrative error, hourly-paid colleagues working in our stores will have a delay of one working day in receiving pay into their bank accounts. We sincerely apologise to all our colleagues affected by this issue and have worked as quickly as possible to address the problem, which has now been resolved.

“We have made funds available for any colleagues with urgent financial needs and are taking steps to ensure that this does not happen again.“
