Driver seriously injured after collision with tree on A27

A driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A27 near Fontwell in the early hours of Wednesday morning (December 23).

Sussex Police has appealed for witnesses to the collision, which happened shortly before 6am.

A Blue Volkswagon Polo travelling west on the A27 west of Fontwell left the road and collided with a tree, police said.

Police said the driver suffered leg injuries and was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton, for treatment.

PC Andy Green, Sussex Police Roads Policing Unit, said: “We’re really keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened in the lead up to this incident.

“If you have any information which you think may help us, please contact us online or by phoning 101 quoting CAD 153 of 23/12.”
