MILLIE will be a loyal dog once settled but will need time to build a strong bond.
The four-year-old female crossbreed is the Herald’s first ‘dog of the week’ for 2016, run in conjunction with Dog’s Trust Shoreham.
Millie is uncomfortable in the company of other dogs but playful with toys and likes to include humans in games.
Tracey Rae, manager at the Brighton Road centre, said: “She is a very sweet girl and will make a wonderful companion.
“Her ideal home would be with children aged 13-plus and with its own enclosed garden so she can run freely off lead in a relaxed environment.
“Millie will need to be the only dog in her new home. She will also need walking in quiet areas where she can enjoy her surroundings with just her and her owner.
“She is a bright girl and enjoys interactive treat puzzles and learning new things. She will become a very loyal dog once settled, it just takes her a little time to form a strong bond, but she is definitely worth the wait.”
It would be ideal if the new owners owned a car, so Millie could be driven to quiet walking areas, but this is not essential if they have lovely scenery on their doorstep.
