Dave Solomons and Mike Edwards of Shoreham-based Snugglebundl appeared on Dragons’ Den on Sunday, seeking an investment of £100,000 to grow their firm.

But despite interest from female investors Deborah Meaden and Kelly Hoppen, the duo walked-away from the show with nothing.

Mr Edwards, 52, said: “I didn’t feel that nervous when we went on as I used to be a teacher, and when you’ve taught a class of children, the Dragons are small-fry.

“Dave found it quite surreal, as suddenly you are in that room which you’ve always seen on TV.”

Snugglebundl is a supportive baby-wrap blanket, complete with handles, which allows parents to lift their babies without straining or bending.

The idea was born after Mr Solomons and his wife had trouble lifting their newborn child.

But when they appeared in front of the Dragons, the male investors were unimpressed.

“It’s a blanket with handles,” argued telecoms giant Peter Jones.
