Now in week three, he has pedalled more than 600 miles and performed 20 concerts.

The tour of the UK, which started in at the Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham on May 1 and will end there on June 20, is being done entirely on bicycles.

So far, Richard has fallen off his bike four times. His wife, Louise, said he was ‘a bit battered and bruised’.

“He was flung off his bike into stinging nettles one day,” she added. “But they have still done more than 50 miles in a day.”

So far, more than £1,500 has been raised for The Big C in Norwich, a cancer charity close to the heart of Richard’s companion on the tour, Sean Simington.
