SANTA will be using pedal power to support Wear a Santa Suit Day for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.

Staff at Giant Shoreham and Mr Cycles in Seaford, which are both owned by Rod and Maria Lambert, are taking part in fundraising events over the weekend.

Both stores will have a range of activities on Saturday, including dressing up in Santa costumes, and there will be a group cycle in Santa suits on Sunday.

Customers will be asked to guess how far the Santas can pedal on a static bike, while wearing their suits, on Saturday.

Members of staff will be taking turns to pedal the bike but they will also be encouraging customers to have a go, as well as guessing the total mileage for the chance to win a prize.

A special festive discount is on offer to customers supporting the event by shopping in store in their Chestnut Tree House Santa suit from December 12 to 14.

To round off the weekend of Santa-inspired fun, staff will then take to the road for the fun Santa Cycle on Sunday, travelling from the Shoreham store to Worthing and back.

Mr Lambert said: “It’s not often you get to wear a Santa suit, so when this opportunity came up we leapt at it. We are really looking forward to dressing up and having fun at work for such a fantastic cause. Chestnut Tree House provides invaluable care services to many children and families in the local area and we hope to raise as much money and awareness as we can on Wear a Santa Suit Day.

“We hope that our customers will support Chestnut Tree House by coming along to the stores on the day and sponsoring us to dress like Santa.

“On Sunday, December 14, all our Santas will be mustering at the Giant Shoreham bike store at 9.30am for a jolly ride along the seafront to The Lighthouse Café in Worthing for a cup of seasonal cheer and a mince pie to fortify ourselves for the return journey.”
