Police are appealing for witnesses after a Worthing woman was ‘verbally abused’ and ‘spat on’ in a reportedly racially aggravated assault in Chichester, according to Sussex Police.
The incident occurred at Homesense in the Chichester Retail Park at around 3.45pm on Tuesday, November 29, police have said.
The victim, a 38-year-old woman from Worthing, told officers she was verbally abused in the store by a man and woman before being spat at and pushed to the ground, Sussex Police confirmed.
Police said she was treated by paramedics at the scene for bruising to her face and arm as a result of the fall.
Police have described one of the suspects as a white man, in his early forties, around 6’ and of heavy build with receding dark hair and glasses. He was wearing a blue jacket with dark trousers that had paint marks on them.
The other suspect has been described by police as a white woman, around 5’4 with shoulder length blonde hair. She was wearing a leopard print coat, black jeans and flat ballerina-style shoes.PC Karen Bridger said: “Understandably the victim was left very shaken by this incident, but fortunately was not seriously injured.
“I would like to speak to anyone who was in the store that afternoon and who saw anything suspicious.”
