Worthing shop robbed by two men with a firearm

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men, armed with a firearm, threatened staff before robbing a shop in Worthing.

Officers were called to Worthing News in Rowlands Road at 6.10pm on Thursday (December 3) following a report that staff had been threatened by two men with a firearm.

Four bottles of vodka and around £400 cash was reportedly taken from the till, police said.

One victim was assaulted, according to police, and suffered a minor injury that did not require hospital treatment.

Police described the first suspect as a white man, bald, in his mid-30s, with blue eyes and wearing a black hoodie and a black backpack.

The second suspect was described as a tall man with dark brown eyes, wearing a face mask and also wearing all black.

Detective Inspector Pauline Lane said: “We are pursuing fast-time lines of enquiry to identify and trace these two suspects and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information that may assist us.

“We would also urge anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident and has CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage to get in touch straightaway.
