Witness appeal after man fights off Southwick phone thief

Police are seeking witnesses to an incident in which a man fought off a would-be mobile phone thief in Southwick.

The 27-year old man was walking home along Elizabeth Road, Southwick, at around 5pm on Saturday, October 8, when he was approached by a man who tried to take the phone from his inside pocket, police said.

A fight ensued between the two as a result of which suspect ran away in the direction of Wilmot Road, according to police.

Police describe the man as white, in his late teens, around 6ft and of skinny build. He was wearing a black hoody.

Detective Constable Sebastian Day said; “The victim was shaken but not hurt.

“If anybody witnessed this incident can they please contact us via [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 926 of 08/10.”
