Witness appeal after car fleeing police abandoned in Worthing

Police are continuing enquiries after a car, stopped during a routine check in Milton Street, sped away and was later found abandoned, a spokesperson said.

Officers stopped a grey Ford Fiesta in Milton Street by the junction with Rowlands Road at around 1.15pm yesterday (Wednesday, December 7), the spokesperson said.

The car initially stopped but then sped away along Marine Parade, colliding with a bollard, according to the spokesperson.

One of the four people believed to be in the vehicle was seen to decamp in York Road and run away, the spokesperson said.

The car was found abandoned shortly afterwards in Warwick Place, said the spokesperson.

Officers recovered the vehicle and are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area https://sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal quoting reference 733 of 07/12.
