Witness appeal after burglary at elderly woman's Worthing home

Police are appealing for witnesses after jewellery and money were taken during a burglary at a Worthing property on Monday (November 28).

It is believed the offender broke into the Highgrove Gardens property through a window sometime around 9.45pm, a police spokesperson said,

The victim was at home at the time, the spokesperson said.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 25 to 30 years old, clean shaven wearing a grey woolly hat, a waist length leather jacket and black trainers, confirmed the spokesperson.

Detective Police Constable Jamie Carruthers said: “The offender was confronted by the elderly resident but this did not deter him from carrying out this burglary.

“The victim was not injured but has understandably been left very distressed by this incident and we are offering her support at this time.

“If you were in the area on Monday, 28 November and saw anything suspicious, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, then please get in touch.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have knowledge of someone wearing clothing of a similar description that evening.”
