Teenagers chance to be briefed on police forensics careers

The Surrey and Sussex Forensics team will be talking to students about the realities of working in police forensics at a careers open day in Brighton.

Members of the team will be on hand to talk about the work they do, the different career options on offer and the qualifications needed on Saturday November 14 at the Amex Stadium in Falmer, Brighton.

The event is open to school-age children with an interest in science, who are interested in forensics as a future career and will soon be deciding upon their course options, as well as those looking into University courses.

Brian Gilbert of the Forensics team said: “Students will leave the event with a clearer idea of what’s involved in a career in police forensics and what personal qualities, skills and qualifications are required.

“We carry out a range of work, from scenes of crime examination, to fingerprint examination, and photography. This is a very specialised and professional support to the police and we think students who come along will find it a real eye-opener.”

Youngsters considering their future career options can book a place by emailing to forensics [email protected], selecting one of two time slots that day - 9am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Parents are welcome.
