Staff member assaulted and woman hospitalised at Shoreham Pub

Police are investigating an incident outside a high street pub in Shoreham yesterday, in which a 45-year-old male member of staff was punched in the face, a spokesperson has said.

The incident took place outside the Crown and Anchor pub in Shoreham, the spokesperson said.

Shortly after 9pm yesterday (Wednesday, December 14) two women who had been behaving in an aggressive and abusive manner had been asked to leave the premises, the spokesperson said, adding that during the incident a wine glass was broken.

A 23-year-old woman fell and sustained facial injuries, for which she was taken by ambulance to Worthing Hospital for treatment, the spokesperson said.

Police attended and arrested a 54-year-old woman from Hove on suspicion of assault, confirmed the spokesperson.

She currently remains in police custody, the spokesperson added.

A witness reported having seen ‘a young woman screaming and kneeling on the pavement with blood pouring from her face’ shortly after 9pm.
