Police identify two 15-year-olds for Shoreham Fort vandalism
Two teenagers have written a letter of apology for damage caused to Shoreham Fort, police said.
Police identified the two 15-year-olds in connection with graffiti at Shoreham Fort thanks to a Sussex Police appeal, a spokesman said.
The pair took part in three mediation sessions with the Restorative Justice Team and wrote a letter of apology for the damage caused between the 26 and 29 March, according to the spokesman.
PC Mike Harvey said: “The fort is an Ancient Scheduled Monument and any crimes committed on the site which directly affect it are treated as aggravated heritage crimes.
“The two teenagers were identified from a Sussex Police social media post and have been dealt with by means of mediation sessions.
“The pair have shown remorse for the crime and have taken a real interest in the fort.”
Gary Baines, chairman and founder of the Friends of Shoreham Fort, said he was grateful for everything Sussex Police was doing to stop vandalism at the fort.
“We’re really grateful to Sussex Police, they have worked really hard,” he said.
