The emergency services have responded strongly to reports of a man assaulting a woman in Worthing.

Sussex Police officers were joined by the South East Coast Ambulance Service and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service yesterday (April 2) following an incident in Clifton Road, Worthing.

According to a police spokesman, officers arrived at 5.50pm after a report a 45-year-old woman had been assaulted.

She was treated in hospital for injuries to her pelvis, the spokesman said and a 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievious bodily harm.

He was interviewed and released under investigation, police said.

The man and woman involved are known to each other, the spokesman added.
