A manhunt is underway for two suspects after the assault on Sea Road. See pictures from the scene herePolice said the stabbing happened at around 4pm this afternoon (Thursday, April 15).

"A man in his 20s sustained a potentially life threatening stab wound to the abdomen and has been airlifted to hospital," Sussex Police said.

Officers, assisted by a police helicopter, are searching for two suspects 'believed to be on foot in the East Preston area'.

Detective Inspector Alan Pack said officers are conducting 'a number of fast-time enquiries' to identify the suspects.

He added: “The victim is in a critical condition and we are determined to locate those responsible.

“Did you witness the assault? We urge anyone with information to get in contact with us without delay.

“We have stepped up patrols in the area while enquiries are ongoing.”
