Break-ins across Adur and Worthing down 10 per cent

GARAGE and shed break-ins are down by nearly 10 per cent across Adur and Worthing compared to last years figures.

Since April 1 there have been 282 break-ins, down by 29, or nine per cent, for the same period in 2011.

Pedal cycles, garden equipment and cash, however, have been among the property stolen from the sheds and garages that are affected by damage and theft.

Kevin Brown, public engagement officer for Adur and Worthing, said: “It’s great that our teams have reduced the number of offences taking place, but we still have work to do.

“This is a good opportunity to remind communities to remain vigilant for suspicious activity and to check the security of both their homes and out buildings.

“Criminals want an easy ride, so let’s not help them out by leaving property insecure. If you suspect it, report it.”
