Appeal for information after Sompting hit and run

A CYCLIST was knocked unconscious after a hit-and-run collision in Sompting.

Police are looking for witnesses to the incident, which happened at the junction of Western Road and Carnforth Road, Sompting, at around 6.40pm on Thursday, December 1.

A car, which did not stop at the scene, knocked a 42-year-old Lancing man off his bike and left him temporarily unconscious with a minor head injury and cuts to his face.

A police spokesman said: “The cyclist, fortunately, was not seriously injured.

“We are doing all we can to trace the driver of this car, which we believe was silver.

“We are particularly interested in tracing a man walking a dog who stopped to help the cyclist.”
