The all weather lifeboat was launched to the aid of a fishing boat five miles south of Shoreham Harbour at 5.40pm on Thursday, February 11.

The 16ft vessel, with one man on board, was located by a passing fishing boat and when the lifeboat crew arrived, they went aboard and took the man off and back onto the lifeboat.

A tow was set up and with a lifeboat crew member remaining on board the fishing boat, she was taken back to Shoreham Harbour and placed on a berth inside the locks.

Shoreham Lifeboat station is manned by a group of volunteer crew members and shore helpers.

The only full timer at the station is the mechanic, whose job it is to look after the lifeboats so they are ready to put to sea 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The crew comes from all walks of life - it includes everyone from a police officer to a postman.
