Jordan’s amazing array of acrobatic flips and tricks saw him trounce the world’s elite riders and take a shock victory at what was his first major event.

“It’s not really sunk in yet, it’s a bit strange all the attention I’m getting,” said Jordan, who rides at The Base Skatepark in Bognor.

“I didn’t expect to win, I just went there to do my best. It’s the biggest event I’ve ever been to and to win it is just mental.”

The finals, held on June 14, took place in front of a crowd of 4,000 and was streamed live on YouTube.

Having qualified in sixth place the day before, Jordan’s faultless first ride in the final was easily enough for victory.

Incredibly Jordan only began scooting competitively in February this year and he says being a top gymnast when he was younger has given him the skills to pull off his amazing tricks.

He has the UK qualifiers this weekend and the UK finals in August - but is taking it all in his stride.

“I know every competition I go to now people will be expecting me to win. But I’m not worrying about the pressure, for me it’s just about having fun and doing the best I can.”

Jordan has just finished his GCSEs at Midhurst Rother College and starts at Chichester College in September.

He has practiced at The Base Skatepark, located at Southern Cross Industrial Estate in Bognor, since it opened last October.

Base founder Janina Cooper said: “He’s come from absolutely nowhere to floor the rest of the world which is incredible.

“We’re extremely proud of him and he’s great with the youngsters who all look up to him.

“Because of his gymnastics he’s able to do things no one else can, he’s taking scooting to a whole new level right now.”
