‘I WAS wrong to do it,’ were the words of a county councillor who was fined for using a mobile phone while driving.
On February 4, West Sussex County councillor for Saltings ward Mick Clark, of Beedings Close, Sompting, appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court after police caught him talking on his mobile phone while driving in Southwick.

Mr Clark said: “Unfortunately, I picked up a call on my phone. I shouldn’t have done it, I was wrong to do it, I got caught and I’m paying my dues as I should do as a citizen.”
He added his blue tooth system had ‘failed’ and in the spur of the moment he made the wrong decision.
“I admitted it. I have experienced the full force of the law and I’m not above it,” said the 50-year-old.
Mr Clark was fined £200, had his licence endorsed with three penalty points and must pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
