COMMUNITY STARS: Time is running out to nominate your stars

TIME is running out to nominate your community heroes and champions in our annual awards.

Dozens of our readers have already told us about the people they think are deserving of a Community Stars Award this year – but we know there are still some amazing stories to be uncovered.

We want you, the readers, to tell us about the dedicated carers in the community, we want to hear about your health heroes and we are awaiting your nominations for local people who are a true inspiration.

As well as rewarding people who work in the community, we want to give some recognition to people closer to home.

Why don’t you nominate your mum or dad, or your grandparents for the things they have done for you. We often forget to thank those closest to us, so here is your chance.

We also have a new category this year for animals. Do you have an animal that makes a difference to your life. Is your pet a friend and companion you could not live without? Then tell us.

Many readers tell us they want to see more good news in the paper and this is your chance to help us do just that.

Some businesses in our towns may be struggling, but we want to pull the positives out of the situation and want to hear about the shopworkers and shopkeepers who work tirelessly to give us great customer service.

And what about our sporting stars? The Olympics was great at raising the profile of our national sportsmen and women, but we know we have some local sporting heroes who deserve some of the limelight.

We actually have 14 categories for you to choose from this year and we already have more than 80 nominations.

All of the nominees will be included in a special supplement, printed in the Herald and Gazette, in November, when we will be asking readers to vote for their favourites.

Every nominee will be invited to our awards night, being held at the Dome Cinema, Worthing, on Sunday, December 9.

The winners will be revealed on the night and will take home a trophy and a free day-pass at Butlin’s, Bognor.

So, get your nominations in now. You can use a voting form, which you can find in the Herald and Gazette every Thursday, or email your nominations to us.

You need to send the name of the person you would like to nominate, which category you would like to nominate them in, the reason why, your name, your telephone number and your Community Star’s address and telephone number.
