FAMILIES looked for Shapes of Steyning and used them for this year’s Big Draw Day.

The art workshop was funded by the Sussex Community Foundation and run by Steyning Museum, in Church Street, Steyning, on Saturday.

Organiser Jacquie Buttriss, chairman of Steyning Museum, said: “It was a fun day with families starting their experience in the museum and looking for Shapes of Steyning, which was the theme for this year.

“Armed with their starter sketches and full of ideas, they went to the neighbouring Penfold Hall, where more helpers and a variety of art materials were ready for them to use.

“A great big thank you to all the helpers and, of course, to all who took part.”

Adults and children of all ages turned their sketches and ideas into colourful and detailed pieces of art.

Milly Pattison, nine, said: “I really loved it. We should have it every month.

Her parents added: “It’s a good way to get people together, a fantastic afternoon.”

All the individual pictures will be mounted to create a joint community artwork, a patchwork wall-hanging which will be on view in the museum entrance from late October.
