Christmas words and music event

CHRISTMAS words and music will be celebrated at St Mary's House, Bramber, on Saturday.

The ancient house will be decorated with holly garlands, the traditional Christmas tree and a blazing log fire for the festive programme of songs and seasonal readings.

There will be performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, with refreshments in the interval. A plated Christmas tea will be served in the afternoon, wine and canapés in the evening.

The star line-up is headed by TV actress Susan Jameson, and author Simon Brett. Best known for the TV dramas When the Boat Comes In and Take Three Girls, Susan Jameson has also appeared in New Tricks. Simon Brett is a top writers of crime fiction and was author of the comedy series, After Henry.

The seasonal readings, chosen from Peter Thorogood’s archive of poetry and prose, will be interspersed with music and carols performed by soprano Jacquelyn Fugelle and baritone Giles White.

Jacquelyn Fugelle has played soprano leads at many other venues. Giles White, lay clerk at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, is a regular oratorio soloist. They are accompanied by Terence Allbright, who is both pianist and composer.
