The event, featuring 30 stalls in four of the main rooms at the Southwick Street centre, helped raise funds towards a proposed refurbishment of the main foyer and office area.

Maxine Coomber, a Southwick Community Association trustee, said: “This year was blessed with good weather, which brought out many local residents.

“The stalls were manned by members from affiliated groups and Friday market traders. They included tombolas, lucky dips, bric-a-brac, craft items, cake stalls and many others, which helped raise funds for the groups.”

The event was also designed as an open day for groups to attract new members and for the centre to make people aware of what goes on there.

There was a short dancing demonstration on the Barn Hall stage by youngsters from two dance groups and the event was rounded off with the grand Christmas draw, with more than 20 prizes donated by residents and stores.
