STAFF at Sussex’s only children’s hospice have been stunned by the generosity of a business in Shoreham which donated £10,000 towards it.
Shoreham Basepoint Business Centres, in Little High Street, announced the cash windfall to Chestnut Tree House this week following a year-long fundraising drive.
Terrina Barnes, corporate fundraiser, at the hospice, was delighted with the result. She said: “We are so grateful to Basepoint Shoreham for this amazing donation.
“This money will go directly towards providing care for local children and young people both at the hospice and in families’ own homes across Sussex.
“The team at Basepoint Shoreham are fantastic and their support really does make a difference to everyone at Chestnut Tree House.”
The hospice cares for about 300 children and young adults with progressive, life-limited illnesses.
The centre has a care catchment area that spreads across Sussex and parts of east Hampshire.
Roxanne Haid, centre manager at Basepoint Shoreham, was proud of the site’s fundraising effort.
She said: “We have had a fantastic year supporting Chestnut Tree House with their fundraising from marathons and quiz nights to raffles and coffee mornings.
“We are looking forward to another year working with them and hope that this money will make a real different to not only the charity but also to the children and families they support.”
