STEYNING Jazz Club is supporting Rotary with a charity fundraising evening.

The annual charity event will be held at the Steyning Centre on Saturday, January 31, at 7.30pm.

Projects to benefit will include the Chanctonbury Community Play Scheme, the Special Task Force, based in Steyning, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards at Steyning Grammar School.

Chanctonbury Community Play Scheme provides respite care for children with special needs and their families in the summer holidays and is staffed entirely by volunteers.

The Special Task Force, a youth group for those with and without disabilities, attracts members from Lancing, Shoreham and Worthing as well as Steyning.

Wally’s Wheeltappers will be performing and a light supper will be provided by Chez Joel, included in the £15 ticket price.

Colin Jilks, from the jazz club, said: “The evening is intended to celebrate great jazz, while raising much-needed funds for our local Rotary charities.

“A special evening is planned, bringing back the hot trad/Dixie jazz band with a line-up featuring Peter Dorday on cornet, Eddie Brockwell on clarinet, John Davidson on trombone, Graham Cox on banjo, Stan Tofield on sousaphone, and maestro and leader Howard Walters on percussion, drums and ironing board.”

Tickets are available from Steyning Book Shop, in High Street, Steyning. There will be a wide range of lottery prizes. Telephone Denis Cummings on 01903 814017 for more information.
