Charity fundraising and promoting town impresses

Melanie Peters, who runs Best of Worthing, in Liverpool Terrace, has been nominated by Fiona Vincent, of Ferring-based Kingsley Group.

And it is Melanie’s combination of working hard for local businesses to promote them and her charity efforts, which prompted the nomination.

Fiona said: “She is always positive about Worthing and the business that the town has and is always looking out to help new businesses grow.

“She also holds regular networking events where local business can meet each other and support each other’s businesses.”

Melanie joined Baby-
buddy’s Chelsea Harman on the China trek earlier this year, an experience she described as ‘un-
forgettable’.

The duo spent nine days in China, with five days of trekking across various stretches of the Great Wall, for up to ten hours a day.

Melanie said: “It was a very spiritual, beautiful and emotional place.

“It was an amazing trip but it was really hard and we were with a brilliant and courageous group.

“It’s going to make such a difference to both the charities, which are close to our hearts.”

With her close links to Babybuddy, half the money raised went towards the charity, with the other portion going to Love Your Hospital.

She also helped Babybuddy secure their first charity shop, opening in the Guildbourne Centre in April.

But aside from her charity work, her promotion of the town’s events makes her a strong contender for the award.

Fiona added: “Melanie worked hard this last year in supporting the local mayor at many events that he was at and helping promote him with the town.

“She likes to support all the local events and puts a lot of time into helping at these, such as the recent Worthing Food Festival at Worthing Pavilion.”
