Celebrity chef Shrager secured for town’s new-look food festival

A TOWN centre manager hopes a celebrity chef will draw in the crowds at a revamped food festival this summer.

The Worthing Food and Drink Festival, in August, will welcome star Rosemary Shrager as its main attraction.

The event will also, for the first time, at Worthing Pavilion Theatre, rather than in a temporary marquee in Steyne Gardens.

Town centre manager Sharon Clarke said: “We are very excited to be welcoming Rosemary to Worthing and know that she will be very popular with the public.

“Rosemary has her own cookery school in Royal Tunbridge Wells and we know she will be able to give some great culinary hints and tips to festival visitors.”

The celebrity chef is well-known for appearing on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and has starred on a number of other shows, as well as publishing a range of books.

She will offer live demonstrations on Sunday, August 24.

Mrs Clarke added she was looking forward to the event being hosted at the Pavilion, which would provide stalls both outside and undercover.

She said: “This year the Worthing Food & Drink Festival will be held in the Pavilion Theatre, and along the promenade, over the weekend of Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24.

“This fantastic location will ensure the event is a real flavour of the seaside.”

The Town Centre Initiative is now inviting participants to book a place at the festival.

It has also published a guide for firms which have not attended similar events in the past, offering advice and information.
